About Us
We are a congregation of people from a wide variety of beliefs, religious backgrounds and walks of life that:
- Welcomes and supports all who search for meaning and truth;
- Celebrates and respects life in all its diversity;
- Nurtures honesty, love, and freedom in people of all ages;
- Fosters spiritual growth and promotes compassionate social action; and
- Expresses Unitarian Universalist ideals, views, and heritage to the community at large.
The UUCUV is a part of the Unitarian Universalist Association. The UUA is a religious organization that combines two traditions: the Universalists, organized in 1793, and the Unitarians, organized in 1825. The two denominations merged in 1961, but both trace their roots back hundreds of years, to the Unitarian view of the unity (as opposed to trinity) of God, and the Universalist belief that everyone is eligible for heaven and salvation. You can learn more about Unitarian Universalism at the UUA website.
Sunday Services: September through May services are held at the Marion Cross School in Norwich, VT., at 10:00 am. Religious Education is provided for children of all ages from September-May, with Nursery Care available for the youngest. To learn more about our Sunday services including a typical order or service, accessibility, parking, go Sunday Services.
Summer Services are lay-led, and are held at the Meeting House on 320 Route 5 South, also at 10:00 am. No formal Religous Education classes are provided during the summer.
Religious Education - Children The Sunday School of the UUCUV is an integrated part of a lifespan learning approach to Religious Education. We nurture children in a safe environment where they are encouraged to explore religious and moral values and gain the resources necessary for lifespan faith development. Go to the Religious Education section to learn more about are religious education programs.
Reverend Bruce Johnson is the Minister of the UUCUV. Bruce can be reached at the Meeting House most weekday afternoons during the regular church year. Voice mail is checked on a daily basis.
Strategic Planning
The UUCUV is growing! We have been adding new members, adding new programs, and growing community and understanding. This is a good thing. But we do need to engage in a planning process to deal with the consequences of growth.
Over the last three years the UUCUV has been engaged in a planning process. We have attempted to answer three questions:
- Who are we?
- Where do we want to go?
- How do we get there?

Our committees provide what it takes to maintain our congregation as an increasingly thriving community. Members on committees meet, discuss, decide and roll up theirs sleeves to make the UUCUV the wonderful community that it is.
