Sunday School Schedule and Logistics:
- 2007-2008 Sunday School Calendar
- On Sunday mornings, we meet at 10 AM at the Marion Cross Elementary School on the green in Norwich, VT.
- Parents of Nursery-age children may take their babies and toddlers directly to the nursery at 9:55 if they wish. Our Child Care providers will be on duty to make a smooth transition for small children. Nursery parents must sign their children in indicating their own location in the building. They are encouraged to stay with their children as long as is best for the child. If Little One seems upset when you depart, know that the sadness usually ends within two minutes; the Child Care providers will follow your guidelines about coming to find you.
- When families first arrive, you may leave your outdoor gear in the front section of the school library in your family's Special Spot. Children can then quickly go out on a class walk, and lost ones know where to wait for you.
- Families begin worship together in the Multipurpose Room of the school. We'll share a hymn and a special story for the children, after which teachers and students go to Sunday School.
- Families who arrive late are expected to deliver their children directly to the appropriate Sunday School teachers, and not allow children to be unsupervised.
- Parents are always welcome to escort their child to class and to stay and participate.
- Each family is encouraged to bring a fresh healthy snack; there will always be pantry snacks available.
- Please let us know of any dietary needs or medical alerts for your child.
- Parents, please pick up your children by 11:15 so teachers can get their coffee!
- Regular attendance encourages class bonding and strong Unitarian Universalist identity. Please help your child attend Sunday School.
- Visitors are always welcome! Please fill out a Blue Sheet at the Welcome Table so we may be in communication with you. Take a big, manila packet of RE Information from the same table to find the answers to some of your questions.
- By the time you have enjoyed three visits, please register your family with the DRE. Registration gives us medical information, gives the DRE permission to treat minor injuries, and allows us to plan for the proper number of teachers, snacks, and materials. You may also email the DRE with your full contact information your wish to register, and your children's names, ages, and schooling situation.
- We encourage parents and all adults to engage in religious dialogue with children. The Order of Service bulletin will contain RE information for the day including "Questions for Sunday Scholars" to help begin the conversation. Also check the RE Welcome Table, look for classroom handouts, and make sure the office and DRE have your email address to know what's happening in class.
- The UUCUV Meeting House library has a good shelf of children's story books and another of non-fiction for children. Topics include everything from whimsey to world religions, grief, divorce, and Earth-centered spirituality.
- Our Sunday School depends on volunteers from the congregation. If you have been with the UUCUV for more than a year, please share your time and talent in the classrooms, on field trips, or behind the scenes.
- We often go outdoors to learn from Nature; neat play clothes and seasonal outdoor gear are appropriate for Sunday School.
