Sunday School Preschool at the UUCUV
In our preschool, children from the age of “I can listen to a story” through Kindergarten meet in the sunny storytelling section of the Library.
- When you arrive for the service, it may be helpful to leave outdoor gear in your child’s classroom, so they are ready to put it on and go out exploring.
- We begin class by lighting our metaphorical chalice: We use the yoga “Mountain” pose, the “Tree” pose, and “Bear Breathing”. Then we share the Gandhi Peace Greeting:
I offer you peace; I offer you friendship; I offer you love
I see your beauty; I hear your needs; I feel your feelings
My wisdom comes from a higher source; I honor that source in you
Let’s work together - Each child is invited to speak a joy or concern while passing and hugging a soft, stuffy Earth ball.
- There is usually a story or game to illustrate the main idea of the lesson, followed by the children’s spiritual work - individual and cooperative art, walking in the woods, labyrinth walking, reenacting the story, or age-appropriate service projects.
- We will wait for parents to join us for our closing circle at 11:20.
- First Sundays are always for All Children’s Chapel
- In the fall, we will learn about our Seven Principles
December, January, and February will be a Winterim special project
In the spring, we will learn about how we are each different, all similar, and do foundational work for our mission of Peacekeeping
