On Sunday, September 7, during coffee hour, committee chairs will host a Super Sign-Up event. This is a great opportunity to learn what our committees are planning for this year and to match your interests and talents with committee needs.

Please consider the following requests from committees, and on Super Sign-Up Sunday let the chairs know of your interests.

Cares and Concerns Committee (Bill Jackson, Chair) Responds to requests for assistance from the congregation, be it a visit, a casserole, or a ride. See Bill Jackson at Super Sign Up Sunday.

Communications Committee (Lori Fortini, Chair) Responsible for maintaining the UUCUV website, The Call newsletter, and the email list, and assists with the print and forthcoming picture directories, and ads for services.

Environmental Sustainability Committee (Colin High and Claudia Kern, Co-Chairs) Guides UUCUV toward being “green” in both an institutional sense and in the individual lives of the congregation; facilitates workshops and field trips, and maintains an information table at Sunday services.

Hospitality Committee (Paul Goldberg and Ann Stoops, Co-Chairs) Ensures that we have snacks for coffee hour and flowers to decorate the sanctuary—and they need your help.

Meeting House Committee (Bob Russell, Chair) Needs members and friends interested in building maintenance (experience a plus), help tending our Nature Walk and gardens, and folks with a penchant for riding a mower or clearing snow and ice (as needed).

Membership Committee (Fay Baker and Deborah Lindberg; Chair open) If you can smile in the morning, please sign up to be a Greeter, the friendly people who say hello each Sunday and make sure we have nametags and bulletins. Parents and children may sign up together. Also seeks help with New UU Courses and New Member Sundays, and preparing information packets for visitors. Bonus: an ongoing, interesting discussion about congregational growth!

Religious Education (Joanne Hayes and Christine McDonough, Co-Chairs) Plans children, youth, and adult Religious Education. Please sign up on Super Sign-Up Sunday to indicate your interest, and the Committee will contact you.

Social Responsibility Committee (Aleta Runey and Pat Combs, Co-Chairs) Pursues social and environmental justice in our local, national, and global communities through actions, financial support, and service as individuals and as a congregation; also oversees UUCUV’s annual charitable giving.

Ways & Means Committee (Mary Layton, Chair) Looking for people to plan and publicize fundraising events, and to solicit volunteer support. Past events included Six-Church Rummage Sale, Soup-a-thon, Upscale Resale, Book Sale. A fun, efficient, high-energy group!
